Birthline is a Christian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1971 by two St. Cloud nurses and their friends. It was originally founded as Birthright, but became independent in the mid-1980's and changed its name to Birthline.
It is our desire that each individual we serve is provided with respect, confidentiality and the factual resources necessary to discern what is best for the health, well-being and future of both parent and child.
Organizational objectives are to ensure that:
- Women and men facing an unintended or challenging pregnancy are provided with the mentoring support they need to choose life for their child;
- Women and men are provided with information on parenting and adoption so they can make the decision that is best for them;
- Women have the opportunity to have a healthy pregnancy;
- Young people in the area have the opportunity to receive education on healthy relationships with an emphasis on abstinence to protect sexual health and future goals.
Birthline serves about 300 women and men annually who face unplanned pregnancies. Historically, the youngest was 12 years old and the oldest was 52 years of age. In addition, about 2,250 middle and high school students annually receive abstinence education through our HEART program (Health Education and Relationship Training).
